The Costa del Sol reportedly enjoys 320 sunny days a year. But which month suits your holiday best?
Spring (March – May)
Our personal favourite. Temperatures from 18°C in March to 24°C in May, little rain, everything in bloom and relatively few tourists. Ideal for golfers, hikers and city trips. The pool is heated, so swimming is possible from April.
Summer (June – August)
High season: 28–34°C, busy beaches, lively bars, prices at their peak. July and August are the busiest, book at least 3 months ahead. June is a good compromise: summer weather without the extreme crowds of July/August.
Autumn (September – November)
September may be the most beautiful month: 26°C, sea still warm from summer, crowds easing off. October stays pleasant (22–24°C), November cooler (18°C) but still sunny. Excellent for golf, cycling and cultural trips to Málaga or Ronda.
Winter (December – February)
Mild and gentle: 15–18°C by day, cool in the evening. No sea swimming, but the heated pool is open from March to November. Good for hiking, golf and overwintering. Christmas and Three Kings (6 January) are festive and authentically Spanish, a unique experience.
Our tip: come in May or September, the best of sun, quiet and atmosphere.
