Mijas Costa is one of the busiest golf regions in Europe. From our apartment in La Cala de Mijas a whole range of courses sits within half an hour's drive, from a short morning round to a full golf resort.
La Noria Golf: the closest course
La Noria Golf & Resort lies in the La Cala valley, a few minutes by car from the apartment. It is a flat 9-hole par 33 course (four par 3s, four par 4s and one par 5) opened in 2003, laid out around lakes and a stream that make the approach shots demanding. Its length and flat layout suit beginners as well as experienced players who want a quick round. There is a driving range, putting green, club rental and a clubhouse with a terrace.
Calanova and Santana Golf
Calanova Golf Club sits in the Valle del Golf near La Cala de Mijas: an 18-hole course with elevation changes and views over the coast. A little further inland, towards EntrerrÃos, lies Santana Golf, a spacious and well-kept 18-hole course in a quiet valley. Both are a short drive from the apartment and make a good combination for a week's stay.
La Cala Resort and Mijas Golf
La Cala Resort, in the hills above the village, is Spain's largest golf resort with 54 holes: three courses (America, Asia and Europa) plus an academy. Towards Fuengirola you will find Mijas Golf Club with Los Lagos and Los Olivos, 36 holes between the eucalyptus trees. If you play several days, these are the courses that give you a different character each time without a long drive.
Green fees and practical tips
Green fees vary a lot by season: spring and autumn (March to May, September to November) are golf high season, while summer rates are usually lower. Book your tee time online with the club in advance, certainly in spring. Ask about twilight rates for a later start, and in summer play early in the morning. Clubs, trolleys and buggies can be hired at all the courses mentioned, so there is no need to fly with your own set. The apartment has room to store golf bags safely and the garage space makes early departures easy.
Tip: combine an early round at La Noria with an afternoon on La Cala beach, both minutes from the apartment.
